Once Alyx hands the gun over, you can use it to arrange yourself a makeshift box-ladder to reach a little area just behind and above Alyx. The first one can be found in the scrapyard at Black Mesa wherein Gordon first receives the Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator - the famed Gravity Gun - in Half-Life 2. RELATED: Black Mesa: Definitive Edition Enters Open Beta On Steam On two separate occasions, just off the beaten path, you'll find the faceplate of an old HEV charger - the kind that are scattered throughout Black Mesa in the first Half-Life game. Somehow this little adage to the first game slipped past me despite the fact that I've played every Half-Life game about 700 times, give or take another hundred.
The figurine makes a second appearance later in the game hidden behind a shelf.There's a great little Easter egg in Half-Life 2 (and again in Half-Life 2: Episode 2) which any nostalgic fan of the series will love. You can even unlock an achievement if you use it as a marker on Russel’s map. Under one of the computer monitors in Russel’s lab, you can find a small figurine oddly reminiscent of the Scout character from the popular team-based shooter. Though Valve made its name with Half-Life, the legendary company is responsible for a whole slew of genre-defining titles, including Team Fortress. Adjacent to the jar is a can labeled “Not Coffee” which you can use to feed your tiny friend. On one of the end tables located near the aforementioned globe, you may have already noticed the small jar housing a single Snark, a tiny alien creature featured in the original Half-Life.
